According to their alleged statements to the police, the four candidates paid Rs 40 lakh each to memorize the question paper and answers before the May 5 examination.

However, who is the mastermind behind this complex scheme and who first leaked the medical entrance exam question paper? The NEET-UG paper leak case is being investigated by the Bihar Police’s Economic Offences Unit (EOU), which has declined to comment.

However, sources within the department told media that speaking with those who have been arrested thus far has revealed the identity of one Sanjeev “Mukhiya,” the alleged racket mastermind who is still at large.

Is Sanjeev “Mukhiya” the initial source of the paper leak, or is he the first link in the chain? The Bihar Police is still silent on this case.

According to reports, he does not go by “Mukhiya.” According to reports, his real name is Sanjeev Singh, and once his wife Mamta Devi was chosen to serve as the Bhuthakhar Panchayat’s “mukhiya,” or leader, even Sanjeev started to go by that title.

In the 2020 Bihar elections, his spouse had also run unsuccessfully from the Harnaut seat on behalf of the Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJNSP), finishing as the first runner-up.

“It was Sanjeev who arranged the question paper and handed it over to one ‘Rocky’ who is still at large,” a police source revealed.

It is also reported that Sanjeev’s son, a doctor named Shiv is currently incarcerated for his alleged participation in a Bihar teacher recruitment exam paper leak case. The father-son team is said to be a member of the infamous “Mukhiya Solver Gang,” which is thought to be involved in exam fraud.

Sanjeev “Mukhiya,” a technical assistant at the Nalanda College branch in Noorsarai, is a resident of Nagarsauna, in the Nalanda district of Bihar. He had worked at Sabour Agricultural College before being moved to Noorsarai. He was arrested by Uttarakhand Police in 2016 after being connected to another controversy involving a paper leak.

Since May 6, 2024, when his name surfaced in relation to the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak, he has not been seen. His suspected role in the paper leak has been reinforced by other arrests made in Bihar, Rajasthan, and Delhi, according to police sources. The management of Nalanda College attested to his absence.

Sanjeev Mukhiya, a resident of Shahpur Balwa village in Nalanda, considers the area from Hazaribagh to Nalanda as his operational stronghold.

Sanjeev had allegedly accommodated nearly 25 candidates at a boys’ hostel, associated with the Learn Play School in Patna on May 4, a day before the NEET exam and the candidates were provided with the leaked question paper and answer sheets at the same hostel.
