A woman named Annie has taken issue with ESPN for showing her and a friend eating ice cream during the College World Series after her video went viral
The clip went viral, with fans comparing her to the notorious ‘Hawk Tuah’ meme.
During the Men’s College World Series championship game between Texas A&M and Tennessee, ESPN focused on two women in the stands eating ice cream.

Play-by-play commentator Karl Ravech remarked, “You gotta get it before it melts and it’s liquid,” noting the 93-degree temperature in Omaha, Nebraska.
A TikTok user named Annie posted a lengthy video criticizing ESPN for the segment, which led to numerous comments.
“It was a 20-second segment of just eating ice cream, or licking our ice cream,” she said. “20 seconds! Dedicated, with commentary, to just us eating our ice cream.”

Annie expressed frustration over being compared to the ‘Hawk Tuah Girl,’ Hailey Welch, who became famous for a street interview involving a pretend spit noise when asked about a bedroom move that drives men crazy.
Annie called the replies to the ice cream video “absolutely repulsing,” noting that the remarks came from men with families in their profile photos.

“It is so beyond evident that women are not welcome in the sports world,” Annie said. “We just wanted to enjoy a baseball game.” Annie displayed several comments on the video, including one saying, “That’s hawk-ona-a and hawk-two-a.”
She shared that she no longer feels the need to attend baseball games after the TV appearance.
“We all just want to enjoy a baseball game. And it was 100 degrees, so God forbid we eat some ice cream. It’s like we can’t sit and eat our food in peace.”

Annie also felt vulnerable when she ate a hot dog before the ice cream incident. She criticized ESPN for frequently showing women at sports events, suggesting they do it for the potential of s*xualizing the footage.
“Nah ESPN needs to be called out because we know exactly why they did that,” she said.
Annie concluded her five-minute rant by suggesting that ESPN should have shown them at other moments during the game and focused on the contest itself.
