As Indians are celebrating this feat, social media platforms are currently buzzing with a bizarre video as some fans are taking dig at cricketer Moeen Ali. Not aware of the situation, here’s a brief.

During the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final against Team India, a fan at the Providence Stadium in Guyana made a distasteful remark as Moeen Ali walked back to the pavilion after being dismissed by Axar Patel.

What Did the Viral Video Show?

A video that surfaced on social media captured a section of the crowd targeting the veteran all-rounder over his nationality and religion as they passed racist remarks.

The dismissal occurred in the 8th over of the innings when Axar Patel delivered a ball down the leg side, deceiving Moeen out of his crease.

Despite Moeen’s attempt to return, he was too far down the pitch as Rishabh Pant broke the stumps. Moeen’s dismissal for 8 off 10 deliveries left England at 46 for 4 while chasing a target of 172.

At the post-match presentation, England skipper Jos Buttler acknowledged that the defending champions allowed India to score too many runs and that India outplayed them in all departments.

“India certainly outplayed us. We let them get 20-25 runs too many. It was a challenging surface that they played well on. They outplayed us and fully deserved the win.”
