College National Final Rodeo, or CNFR, is one of the super bowls in the College Rodeo event, USA. Since 2001 this event has been held in the month of June every year. Since 2001 this event has been hosted in Casper, Wyoming.
Casper Event Center is the address where the competition takes place in all its seasons; men and women rodeo athletes take part in the competition.
The topper athletes are honored to be the national champions of their own respective events.
How Does CNFR Work?
For over twenty years, CNFR has built a legacy of rodeo athletic legend. The College National Finals Rodeo is one of the unique athletic events in the world.
You will not ever see this type of competition where college athletes go with animals head to head in the dirt to win the title of the national best.
CNFR is considered the best of the best in college rodeo. National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association honors champion crowns for individual events like saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping, and goat tying.
National team championship awards are also given to both men’s and women’s teams. More than 400 cowboys and cowgirls from over a hundred universities and colleges come to fight in the CNFR competition every year.
Individual athletes compete in three rounds; the top 12 performers come for the final championship round. After the final round, the individual event champions, men’s and women’s all-around champions, and national champion teams are honored by the champion’s crown.
Here, time and scores are very important elements, but team titles are also based on a point system.
The athletes compete in any of the NIRA’s 11 regions to participate in the final CNFR. The top three participants in each event and the top two men’s and women’s teams from the NIRA’s 11 regions break the qualifying rope for the CNFR.
